Third with macron and something called smart object replacing:
and with CHCH ?
Second draft, new landscape version:
although... now I'm looking again at the images on the website and they seem to conform to the same dimensions, see this example:
So I will think about this with a fresh brain tomorrow. Any insights let me know.
First attempt:
hey I really like the way the new postcard has added a new colour spectrum to the palette, it's nicely awkward. I just wanted to post this now, I know I'm late for the image deadline but I will be up for a few more hours I think so feedback welcome and I'll send it in the morning.
Hugs from this nervous and excited proamature file preparer :)
Hi Liz,
ReplyDeleteThis is looking faboosh! Really liking the new colour spectrum, reading that waterfall blue as a kind of gel or cooling pack for identity sprains...
One thing, what do you think about including 'Ōtautahi' on one of the postcards, or near coming soon? An acknowledgment of Ngāi Tahu and by extension Tautahi who 'is buried in the urupā on the site of what was St Luke’s Church vicarage on the corner of Kilmore and Manchester Streets (demolished following the 2010 and 2011 earthquakes).' http://my.christchurchcitylibraries.com/ti-kouka-whenua/otautahi/
Just see Mel's recent email - looks like there is a preference for 'landscape' for the promo image... will have a think on this now...
I guess one option could be to double the width of the image to make it landscape, but pretty much keep the image as is and situate it on the left half, keeping the right half blank/white except we shift 'Coming Soon' over to the white page - perhaps make it 'Coming Soon to Ōtautahi' or something along these lines? I think the image will still be readable in this format. Any other thoughts?
ReplyDeleteYeah, great, I read about Tautahi on that website too! I'm getting lost in the layers here :) I think the post cards need a bit more postcard identifiers so perhaps on there? And I'm working on the landscape format for the image now, good idea about spacing things out rather than filling it all up. I'm just having a break and then I'll try again, or failing that I'll return to it with fresh eyes in the morning. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHere is the landscape version RO if you're still out there?
ReplyDeleteWow, thanks Liz for super speedy landscape magic- the image shower flow works horizontal too, so that's great. Wondering if we need upside down sleeve of the puffer jacket on the right? Or am I being too symmetrical? Small thing, we need macron on the O of Ōtautahi , Looking handsomer by the re-orientation xxxR
ReplyDeleteHey Liz. It's looking AMAZE. Super nice. Thank you! I love the format of the most-recent one, and the white space is very effective in the sense of letting the full parts be full. Um, that's not so articulate.... I like the sense of the coming soon trailing off into while space, it's like "watch this space" dot dot dot. Reading the mail from Mel, "The website resizes according to width…" it sounds like if we work in landscape, the way the image and text are organised on the website will adjust to the height we are using anyway. So it seems all good to me!
ReplyDeleteThanks guys! + RO, 'just' add a macron, ha ha, I'm not DCCN you know... I may be some time. ;)
ReplyDeletethird draft up now! xx
ReplyDeleteLooking HOT and SUPER SMARTIMAGEREPLACETOOL. I just noticed on the PRoom site, that it allows for a sneaky "open image in new tab" right click. Which is grand for all the detail perves out there (you know who you are!).
ReplyDeleteLoL. What do you think about the new addition of the CHCH? Colloquially bilingual?
ReplyDeleteMmm, I like the spacing around the text of the option without the CHCH. With the extra space it kind of looks like the "official line" or "stamp" on the image. Like I imagine it being read in a BBC voice, after the clatter and clanging of the image. So the contrast for me is nice.
ReplyDeleteCool, I'm heading out to meetings now. Will do file prep b4 Mel sees the sun. Any comments welcome! CN if you can remember which of our myriad blogs the file prep notes you wrote are kept then I would be eternally grateful for a link x kisses
