INFO GRAPHIC NEW

Third with macron and something called smart object replacing:

and with CHCH ?

Second draft, new landscape version:

although... now I'm looking again at the images on the website and they seem to conform to the same dimensions, see this example:

So I will think about this with a fresh brain tomorrow. Any insights let me know.

First attempt:

hey I really like the way the new postcard has added a new colour spectrum to the palette, it's nicely awkward. I just wanted to post this now, I know I'm late for the image deadline but I will be up for a few more hours I think so feedback welcome and I'll send it in the morning.

Hugs from this nervous and excited proamature file preparer :)

If + Trust teaser: shall we make it public

Hey Stunts,

Michaela asks: "Shall I post the teaser on my Vimeo account, www.vimeo.mlakova.info and you post it on yours aswell?" (we should make an AtCS vimeo account btw).

What do you think, are you happy for Michaela to make our teaser accessible on her portfolio, which means it's viewable to the internet public?

I think its a good idea...

Title
Physics Room/North Projects
Woahmanchester
Road Movie of Intrepid Dimensions

GLU
F+
A Family Genre Comedy

Promo Image
Happy with the most-recent "Promo?" image. With Liz's suggestion of more recent work (in the top, upside down image, perhaps Clare's recent waterfall image) and add GLU title to upside down postcard. With "PARTY" spray-paint on top of the postcard on the left and a little bit more of the "T" of politics visible. Clare asks if LA can prepare the files? Clare can send the layered file of original rdam file to Liz.

Details?
- Dates
PRoom has an opening on the 18th
RO has a WUNZ meeting at 1pm on the 23rd
The pride event on the 24th is a men’s only underwear party, on the 25th is a 'T' party by Agender, and the 27th is the closing party of Pride.
So it sounds like March 24 would be the best. We need to talk to Mel about what kind of opening would we want? Like will it be an opening
- Blurb about project
Include a tie-in for the GLU pages.
- Locations
P Room Stairwell (make with paper?) + extras for all the LGBTQ community centres RO visited. If we have the budget?
Phantom framed poster spaces (make with paper?)
Community Gardens' Fence (make with: rip stop (heavy grade) banner vinyl with eyelets; corrugated plastic with little ridges; ABS plastic, high-density foam board?)
Red Cross window (make with vinyl?)
Dairy (possible glass space for posters on the exterior -- make with paper?)
North Projects fence (make with:

We need to confirm budget.
We need dimensions and specs for each site.

Marnie to email Mel with practical info, details, site list and questions about budget tomorrow.

Skype with Mel?

Getting on the (swinging) framily band waggon...

So doing a bit of a literal layer on top of the swinging lady - quite like the cheesy use of 'swinging' in relation to family/framily

Thought I'd try on some thinking about the protective bubble (or not) of family(z), the gay shroud, the workspace, the stretch the awkwardness of belonging to the limit space... coming soon...

I'm liking the alternative spelling of Framily a lot
And you know me and puns, the 'relative' comedy... stop it!!??

Their Family Movie

I need to spatialize (wink!)

Hey Stunts. I thought trying some works in context might help me to figure out what we are doing slash want to do.

First to the P Room, while climbing the stairs:

Oooooo, could be a lightbox!

Then, woah, manchester:

xxx three

Or:

But I am not so super sold on the round pole things

Then a cryptic fence:

I took the glitter car out Clare.... but left the text. With this, it would be cool if it was leaning up outside, if we could ask the dairy owner to put it out every morning. Fresh!

North Projects' gate! But actually maybe this would be better swapped with the one on the red cross window....

Initial thoughts would be that I quite like the links and breakages in the variation of images. It makes me think about how the street is so long, so the encounters can be quite particular in the sense that they may be able to function less like a series and more like singular experiences.

Promo?

I really like the first image Liz posted for the promo. The white areas make it visually appealing I think, and because it is less full, but still includes repetition, it would be super flexible for different formats.

Here is a version that includes an image that the Northern Hemisphere can see properly.

abstract family seeks

I need to verbalise, you knew that already: But look, I almost just wrote a Stunt marriage contract/family charter...

From Marnie's email to GLU:
"Early stages for us, but we like the possibility of GLU and the site in New Zealand straddling the current geographical workings of our collaboration, and for the possibility of a very local, public project connecting to the more roaming but personal site of the magazine. As you may be aware, Christchurch is still in recovery mode from a massive earthquake in 2011, and we think that introducing questions of family and community will resonate there, too."

Sites:
local, public site of recovery Christchurch, NZ (specifically in Manchester Street) (Geographic, civic community, we are (?) speaking to subgroup within this community, feminist, queer, artistic, allys) by constructing visual imagery to show our understanding of their (our?) context, particular celebrations and challenges in coexisting with this specific wider community??

roaming, personal site of GLU magazine (community of contributors and readership, feminist, queer, artistic, we are contributing a geographic experience of long distance family elsewhere-ness through text and image?

Themes/Questions:
Questions of family and community: What constructs a queer family?
Geographical workings of our collaboration: Distance, bonds of friendship, shared cultural background and commitment to share political perspectives, to keep the home fires burning wherever that might be, to share experiences of roaming and conceptual migrations?

Connections, commitment to sharing influences and opinions, necessity of connection for what? Value of shared understanding, parts of selves being recognised and strengthened by the bond. Parts of selves being shared to provide a wider understanding of selves as community of experiences.

A mOod BoArd: I really don't know what's happening here....

or why there's so much shaving going on, but, such is the process!

(ps. the parts are resonating formally, the message is less of a focus ATM)

// and then I thought, well, why not reintroduce something a bit literal and literally pictorial, and what about all that site imagery I made...

and so I think there's somehow a Canterbury rugby colour thing here, right?? And the retro aesthetic of RO's waterfall imagery is making an impact on the overall aesthetic and its becoming a bit, Hitchcock? Something like that. Anyhow, you'll notice the four panels, a little nostalgia in the dimensions there (lightbox era, sigh!). XXXX Hugs from this night owl!

Pink Dollar lubricant

In a slightly off-topic veer to the economy of images, ANZ Australia has drawn on the aesthetics of Liberace-styled abundance in their ode to Sydney's famous Gay Mardigras. I find it amazing to see such a stylistically cohesive presentation of the fame&opulence thread of gay culture. Cannonically Iconographic. Woah.

A little love

bell hooks: I was thinking about what you were saying earlier -- that I am funny. A lot of people think I am, but most people don't. [Laughs] I was telling you that when we first met. That's a pretty big stereotype about feminists, that we're not fun, that we don't have a sense of humor and that everything is so serious and politically correct. Humor is essential to working with difficult subjects: race, gender, class, sexuality. If you can't laugh at yourself and be with others in laughter, you really cannot create meaningful social change.

image/title/info…

Possible image format for Mel/Physics Room, repeating the versions format of Casting Call, trying to be postcards from us to the Ch CH audience and attempting to be a mood board giving indication or snapshot of the process at the moment. Seriously lacking some stunts multi-aesthetic input, cutoffs and other awesome text elements that have just surfaced but just a draft.

Title idea to get the ball rolling = Woahmanchester a framily drama
